Campout Adult-In-Charge (AIC) Help
A campout’s AIC helps to plan and organize the details for a particular campout, from departure time to making activity or campsite reservations. The following folder on the Troop’s Google Drive has template files to help make this job easier.
Scout’s Camping Packing List
The following is intended to assist you in packing for regular weekend campouts. This list should be considered the minimum and additional equipment or clothing may be required depending on the expected weather, duration of the camp, and planned activities.

Packed properly, the following should fit easily in a duffel bag or backpack.
Clothing
- Complete Class A uniform including official shirt, pants or shorts, belt, and socks for both the outward and return trip.
- Troop t-shirt/other scout-appropriate t-shirt for the remainder of the campout plus any pant or shorts, and any socks.
- Extra shirt of T-shirt of any kind plus an extra pair of socks and underwear.
- Two pairs of appropriate shoes. A pair of hiking boots plus tennis shoes is recommended. No open-toe shoes or sandals.
Equipment
- Sleeping bag or bedroll
- Sleeping mat, foam or self inflating
- Heavy or light jacket (sweatshirt) depending on weather
- Mess Kit: plate/bowl, utensils, cup
- Toiletries: Toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, deodorant, small towel (kitchen towel is fine)
- Small Pillow (optional)
- Personal first aid kit with band aids and first aid ointment (Any other meds must be carried by an adult, rather than the scout. Rescue inhalers and Epi-pens may be carried by the scout.)
Day pack (small backpack) with:
- Durable refillable water bottle or canteen which can be carried by scouts at all times (e.g. Nalgene water bottle)
- Raingear
- Sunscreen
- Insect repellant
- Knife and Totin’ Chip card (knife can only be carried after Totin’ Chip is earned)
- Compass, as needed
- Small flashlight and extra batteries
- Scout handbook (recommend carrying in Ziploc in case of rain)
- Small notebook and pen
Optional items:
- Folding camp stool for youth
- Folding camp chair for adults
Prohibited Items:
- Fixed blade or sheath knives
- Axes
- Electronics, except cameras
- Liquid Fuel
- Personal Stoves
- Personal food including snacks or candy
