Joining Troop 140: A Guide for New Members
If you’re considering joining our Troop, we invite you to attend one of our meetings at the Community Life Center of Harvest United Methodist Church.

Directions: When facing the front entrance of Harvest United Methodist Church, the Community Life Center is located behind and to the right of the main church building.

If you’ve already decided to join, we’re thrilled to have your family as part of the Troop 140 family! Below, you’ll find step-by-step instructions to help you get started with your Scouts BSA experience:
New to Scouting / Out of Council Transfer
- Application/Transfer: Complete the online application. You’ll need your BSA ID number for this step.
- Dues: Pay your BSA dues online, and you will be informed of the troop dues once you join.
- Code of Conduct: Fill out the Code of Conduct
- Medical Form(s): Complete parts A and B of the BSA Medical Form.
Arrow of Light Scouts / In Council Transfer
- Contact New Member Coordinator for Troop 140 with your scout’s name, date of birth, and BSA ID number.
- Dues: Pay your troop dues. You will be informed of the troop dues once you join.
- Code of Conduct: Fill out the Code of Conduct
- Medical Form(s): Complete parts A and B of the BSA Medical Form.

Effective September 1, 2023 two registered adult leaders 21 years of age or over are required at all Scouting activities, including all meetings.
All adults staying overnight in connection with a Scouting activity must be currently registered in an “adult fee required position” (see link for FAQ on definition of adult fee required position).
- The electronic applications will be sent to the appropriate Troop 140 leadership for approval. Scoutmaster will review all youth applications, and Charter Organization Representative will review all adult applications.
- All approved applicants should get added to the troop roster with 24-48 hours after electronic applications are received.
Scout Uniform: To obtain an official Boy Scout Class A uniform (i.e. the official BSA tan uniform; please feel free to repurpose your shirt if you purchased one of these shirts for Webelos), official green BSA scout trousers, official green BSA scout shorts, official BSA socks, a BSA scout book, or any other Scouting supplies, please visit the official Scout Store at 12300 Parc Crest Dr #130, Stafford, TX 77477 (Google Map link). You will be provided with an official Class B (i.e. casual) Troop 140 t-shirt once you join.

BSA/Troop Dues:
Both BSA and the troop assess fees on a calendar year timetable, not on an academic year timetable.
